Company History

2017 An exciting year to date with the launch of a new collaborative wheelchair services project alongside Sunrise Medical. During March we were also assessed and approved to the latest ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards for our Quality Management and Environmental Management Systems. Bartrams also launch a new range of PRM products, designed to enhance disabled access within airports and large venues.
2016 The retail operations grew further Bartrams opens up a new outlet based at the popular Serpentine Green shopping centre in Peterborough. The Mobility Hire 4 You branch of the business continued to expand and was privileged to be chosen as the mobility service provider at the 2016 Cenotaph during the November Remembrance events.
2015 Became a busy year for Bartrams as the company celebrated it’s 25th anniversary.  We won 2 wheelchair supply and maintenance contracts, as well as expanding our retail arm by entering a partnership with the Wyevale Garden Centres.  Our retail presence can now be found in the Wyevale Royston store.  During the year we were also inspected and accredited with the ISO 27001 Client and Company Data Security Standard.
2013 Increased the mobility hire services by launching Mobility Hire 4 You to provide wheelchairs and scooters for events and exhibitions across the UK.  The Royal Horticultural Society shows was one of the first large scale public events we attended.  Since then we have added over 100 shows including Farnborough Air Show, Royal Highland Show and Kew Gardens being some of the most prestigious.
2012 Saw Bartrams move into a new 30,000 square foot facility incorporating offices, workshops, decontamination plant, 2,000 pallet capacity warehouse, mobility centre and assessment rooms for the NHS.
2010 Another successful development as the company is selected by The NEC as their sole service partner to operate the mobility equipment hire service at The NEC Birmingham.
2009 Progression continues as Bartrams acquires First Technicare; manufacturer of pressure care mattresses and cushions.  With a desire to look at ways to reduce bed sores and create the most comfortable environment for the individual, we started to use the technical knowledge acquired together with the customer needs identified from our contact with occupational therapist and customers.  This has enabled us to continue to develop new and improved products for the Pressure Care sector.
2004 Investment in new products sees Bartrams win approved distributor status for an innovative bed helping to eliminate bed fall injuries.   The Protean 5 Floor Level Bed was introduced to the UK market and was seen as being ahead of its time.
1995 Growth of the company continues as it gains approval to start care in the community for social services.
1995 Bartrams becomes an approved distributor for a range of innovative rehabilitation chairs and patient transfer systems that eliminate hoisting.
1990 Bartrams wins its first wheelchair approved repairer contract.
1990 The company wins a managed supply contract at various sites with the US Air Force.
1990 Bartrams is established by Arthur and Kathleen Bartram to service the Huntingdon wheelchair contracts.  We also opened a mobility shop, as well as providing an electronic design, assembly and technical employment agency.
